Njoro Wa Uba

Njoro gives a ride to two extremely drunk young doctors who are on call and coming from the club. He has to drive them to the hospital where they have been called for an emergency. Stacy has a crush on a boy while Njoro finds out that Cess is in a relationship with a married man.

Njoro has a close shave with Cess when she almost realizes that he is a taxi driver, a secret he has worked hard to keep away from her. Its Stacy’s birthday and Njoro promises the moon to prove a point to Jezebel but he is on the brink of not just humiliating Stacy amongst her friends but struggles with feelings of failure and self-loathing for being unable to provide for his daughter as he previously had.

Edna’s search for a child sees her join a cult. Njoro’s financial struggles continue to pile pressure on him. The unfairness of it all is magnified when he spends the day helping a twenty-two-year-old house hunt in posh neighborhoods. He observes the ease with which she pays rent running into hundreds of thousands while Njoro struggles to raise money to service his car which is his lifeline.

It’s dawns on Njoro that despite living in a big city, being surrounded by people and even interacting with different personalities in his taxi day and night, his is a very lonely existence. Eventually he comes to the realization that ‘The Palace breeds fame, and the market builds fortune, But Loneliness is the path to Wisdom.’

Shosh threatens to ship Stacy to her mom in Dubai because of what she refers as Njoro’s inability to parent. Njoro gives a ride to a lady who is planning her husband’s disappearance and later plays counsel to a woman on her way to commit suicide.

Njoro has an interesting day when he gives a ride to a passenger with OCD. Later on, he becomes an unknowing accessory to a robbery. Stacy gets into an accident which leads to Cess encountering Jezebel in her element. Just another day in the life of our taxi driver.

Njoro gets ride requests to passengers who need relationship advice, interestingly he is able to give this while unable to sort out the mess that is his relationship with Cess and that with his daughter which increasingly appears to be based on broken promises.

Njoro finds out the bank is planning to throw him under the bus, have him take the fall for his former bosses’ mess. Cess is still playing games with his mind and he meets a former colleague who is shocked to discover Njoro’s new career as a taxi driver.

Njoro is looking to get his rating up, but his quest is not helped by a passenger who is set on getting a free ride and who gives a bad rating and review. The day doesn’t get better especially when he gives a ride to a most wanted.

An innocent conversation during the morning drive to school takes an interesting turn when Stacy takes her father’s suggestion to stand her ground to mean fight or fight. Njoro’s app has been blocked due to low ratings and Mteja teaches him to be a non -digital taxi driver.

Stacy is in trouble at school and Njoro has to take time off work to follow up, time he doesn’t have with his car still at the garage. The lawyer tables an offer that could see Njoro’s case dropped, if he is willing to part with a bribe.

It’s a long day for Njoro. The bill to fix the car is astronomical, He is having to lease cars from partners to keep the business going and, on this day, he has a mention in court. He tries to juggle between being in court and squeezing in rides in between the waiting.
