A glimpse into the life of Lebo M

He’s the first voice you hear in The Lion King. He’s won a Grammy, been nominated for a Tony for his work on the highest-grossing Broadway production of all time, executive produced the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, had his songs streamed over 250 million times on Spotify alone.

Award-winning music icon Lebo M has returned to South Africa and he’s giving DStv customers a glimpse into his life in reality series Lebo M: Coming Home. The series sees the Grammy and Tony-award winner pull out all stops as he tries to rebuild his relationship with his family.

Lebo M won a Grammy in 1994 and he was a nominee for a Tony for his work on the The Lion King - which remains the highest grossing Broadway Production of time. Through his reality TV show, Lebo M invites Mzansi Magic viewers into the Lion’s Den as he tries to rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife Angela, while striking a balance with protecting his family. Lebo M shares his dynamics of a father-daughter and father-son relationship, and navigates being a father in the modern society. 
 
“Through this compelling reality TV show, Lebo M shows viewers that while he is an accomplished composer and producer, the most important accomplishment is safeguarding and bringing your family together under one roof,” says Nomsa Philiso, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

“Furthermore, Lebo M: Coming Home premieres at a time when we also celebrate the birthday of the legendary composer, producer and Africa’s most celebrated storyteller, whose craft was heard from Soweto all the way to Hollywood,” Philiso concludes. 
 
Lebo M’s life comes full circle as he tries to keep the Morake household together. In the first episode, his ex-wife, Angela, throws a housewarming party as the renowned composer moves into a new home with Angela, his kids and his 93-year-old mother. The first episode also sees tensions between Lebo M and his son, Tshepiso, get more intense over Tshepiso’s unwelcome baby mama. 
 
Will the legendary composer succeed at keeping his family happy and will he mend his relations with his son?
