From 17 March, viewers can enjoy big names such as Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise and Dwayne Johnson on a channel geared at action lovers
High-octane Hollywood blockbusters will be reporting for duty at new headquarters on 17 March 2023. For 17 days, top action stars will take the lead on M-Net Movies Action HQ, an exciting new pop-up channel on DStv Channel 111.
Highlights from the 107 movies airing on M-Net Movies Action HQ include adrenalin-fuelled blockbusters starring heavyweights such as Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Liam Neeson and Bruce Willis.
Some of the movies you can enjoy on M-Net Movies Action HQ include:
- Top Gun Maverick: Starring the inimitable Tom Cruise, who revisits his iconic role as naval aviator Maverick more than 30 years after the original. With an incredible 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was also the second highest-grossing movie of 2022 – and the highest grossing of Cruise’s career.
- John Wick Chapter 2: The sequel to a wildly successful first film, the Keanu Reeves vehicle was a hit with critics and audiences. One critic called it an “adrenaline-pumping blockbuster polished to near perfection”.
- Taken: Liam Neeson shines in this modern action classic as a former Secret Service agent who just wants to enjoy his retirement. But when his daughter is kidnapped, it sets the scene for a high-octane, fast-paced action thriller that you can never watch too many times.
- Unchartered: Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas team up for a glorious action adventure about a lost treasure. Based on the hugely popular video game of the same name, the critics who loved it called it “a fun ride with a clear respect for the source material”.
- Die Hard: Considered by critics and viewers as one of the greatest action films ever made, Die Hard enjoys a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As one critic wrote of Bruce Willis’ protagonist John McLane: “Die Hard lets its hero solve problems with more than bullets and fists. His best weapons are ingenuity and wit.”
M-Net Movies Action HQ (DStv Channel 111) will be available to DStv Premium from 17 March until 2 April. The movies will also be on DStv Catch Up until 2 May.
