Fame and fortune are the main reasons people want to be in the music industry, but is it really all that it’s cut out to be? Everyone knows all that glitters doesn’t necessarily mean gold, right?

On Mungoma, we learn that music executives will do anything to get the hottest artist to drop an album to ultimately become the hottest property globally. Some industry executives stop at nothing to make sure they keep their ‘cash cow’ artist so they can make more money. That’s the nature of the beast.

We love Mungomamostly because we see a lot of what happens in the industry, good and bad. The show has highlighted that with the right guidance and leadership, artists stand a chance at making something of themselves. But as we know, it doesn’t always go that way, especially for the unsuspecting talent.

Then there is the darker side of abusing substances such as drugs and alcohol. This is usually how the big guns try to impress the talent, except at that stage, they are none-the-wiser to what will happen next – and how it will all affect their future.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. The lucky ones find an executive who won’t exploit the artist. It’s a small move in the right direction, but it’s a much-needed one to eliminate bad practices in the music business.

Tell us what you like about the show and how it has influenced your opinion about the music industry as you know it. We would love to hear your opinion about how the music business has helped changed the lives of young artist, either for the worst or the better, like you see on your favourite drama #ZMMungoma.

Remember to tune in to #ZMMungoma every Thursday and Friday at 20:00hrs on #ZambeziMagic DStv Channel 162.
