26 April, Lusaka: Zambia’s most adored telenovela is back for a sixth season on Zambezi Magic – and viewers are in for quite the treat as it promises to be the show’s most riveting turn yet.

Zuba, which stars an acclaimed cast including Mwaka Mugala, Sophia Chapeshamano, Barbara Maramwidze and Sam Sakala, will premiere its season 6 on 28 April at 20h00 on Zambezi Magic (DStv channel 162, GOtv Supa channel 5).

With season 5 providing all the drama, romance and twists – and a shocking season 5 finale that is set to deliver the biggest cliff-hanger so far – where will season 6 take us? Will the question we’ve long debated – who between Niko and Thando is the better man for our titular Zuba – finally be answered, once and for all?

In the new season, a heart-stopping and life-changing sudden loss occurs, affecting the show’s most beloved characters in ways we could not have imagined. Will we be able to recognise them by the time grief, rage and hurt are done with them?

Season 6 of Zuba also heralds the arrival of a new villain in Zuba’s life – except, it’s someone we already know. What will drive their evil behaviour, and will Zuba survive their campaign against her unscathed? After all, it seems everything Zuba touches goes wrong in the end – so perhaps she is the villain in her own life. Or, at least, that’s new narrative being touted around town.

Promising to be its most dramatic season yet, Zuba season 6 premieres on Zambezi Magic on Thursday 28 April at 20h00. The telenovela remains in its weeknight primetime slot, Mondays to Fridays on DStv channel 162.
