Time flies when you’re having fun and this is the case now that we’re days away from the final season of #IdolsSA premiering this Saturday 8 July on Mzansi Magic at 18:00 and Mzansi Wethu at 19:30.
We will however have some more fun before it’s all over and get to see our judges back on the hot seats. They will be ready to teach, encourage, praise and of course make funny remarks that will stay with us.
Here are some of our favourite quotes from them over the previous seasons.
Somizi
“Woooo shem!”
An episode without this being said is a good one, but when Som G belts out that “Woooo shem!” then you know it’s one amazing episode. Contestants have come to take this as a sign of how well they are doing and every single time, the audience understands the assignment when it comes up.
“You are a beast and what South Africa is waiting for.”
Somizi doesn’t hold back on anything and this is the perfect example. He spots the talent then hands it over to them to prove week in and out why they are meant to take it all the way and take South Africa by storm. The likes of Nozi and Mpilo from last season, among others, have had the pleasure of getting this from him after their stellar performances.
“Your personality is like a wet dish-cloth.”
It would be criminal to not mention the quote that got the twitter streets talking, and laughing even louder. It was in 2015 when the amazing Karabo Mogane made his now iconic appearance on the show with notes to match but according to Somizi, his personality didn’t close the deal.
Unathi
“Camagu.”
Simply put, this translates to “thank you” and it mostly came after a few tears and beautiful words. Whenever a performance touched Unathi’s heart and made her connect with the person singing, she would explain where that took her and then end it with a calm “camagu” and that would let one know that it’s a wrap.
Thembi
“Baby you are gifted.”
Season 18 came with the new and that included iconic faces to the judging panel, one being the great Thembi Seete whose wittiness, sweetness, and honesty quickly made her a fan favourite. She oozes encouragement whenever she speaks to the hopefuls.
JR
“You are a superstar.”
Along with Thembi Seete, JR also made the circle bigger by joining the panel and adding his expertise to the show. Along with the lessons, he would also come through with affirmations that include letting anyone that does amazingly well know that they are a superstar and we are here for it.
Randall
“No.”
Easy and straight to the point has always been the standard for him and in turn, it is the first thing that comes to mind when Randall’s name comes up.
“Enough said.”
A man with very few words when he finally hears magic. When he is done listening and absolutely loves what he heard, he would leave it to the other judges and then follow all that up with “enough said”.
And lastly, the one quote that they all say which we’re about to apply now that we’re approaching the final season is, “now is the time to have fun!” so get ready for ilast number.
