The Isibaya story really began with a love story and forbidden romance. Dangerous relationships and eternal companionships have been at the core of the story ever since. If you have journeyed with Isibaya from the beginning, you may already have your favourite couple of the decade. So let’s take a look at some of the most unforgettable love stories on the show:
- Sbu and Thandeka
There is no denying that Sbudeka’s electric chemistry and love story is one we will never forget even though Thandeka tragically passed. This young couple met in the middle of a war between their families and managed to fight tooth and nail to bring their families together because of their love.
- Sengwayo and Phumelele
They may be in the process of getting divorced now, but Sengwayo and Phumelele’s story is still one for the books. Phumelele came to the Zungu homestead as a young girl entering a polygamous marriage and managed to stand her ground, build a beautiful relationship with Sengwayo’s wife, Siphokazi and have two children of her own.
- Sengwayo and Siphokazi
If ride or die was a person, it would definitely be Siphokazi. We don’t think there is anything that could separate Siphokazi from Sengwayo. He has taken 3 wives after her, she has been at the frontline of his wars and even taken a few damaging bullets and she still remains.
- Fezile and Qondi
No couple has taken our hearts on a roller-coaster ride quite like Fezile and Qondi. We were all so invested in their love story from the beginning, then it seemed Chiefs and evil spirits would just not let them love. When we thought they finally had a chance at love, Qondi went overseas to find herself and left Fezile to find Cebisile. Neither Qondi’s sabbatical nor Fezile’s relationship with Cebisile lasted but the couple just couldn’t get it together.
- Jabu and Zama
If the love does not come with a war, Jabu does not want it. The Zungu heir is always falling for the wrong woman. Zama Ngwenya was no different. Jabu fell in love with daughter of his father’s arch enemy and even we were here for it. We will never forget uCakes bandla, even after she died at their wedding. Â
- Â Jabu and Ntwenhle
Like we said, where there is trouble, Jabu is sure to find love. Jabu and Ntwenhle’s love has not only come with a new life but also a war in the valley that has seen two people die already. Will Jabu lose another loved one again?
- Sengwayo and MaMkhize
The ladies of Mzansi know how charming Sengwayo is, but we didn’t think his charms could turn a detective. MaMkhize was all over protea and the valley trying to get Sengwayo arrested and fell in love with her suspect. Now she is Mrs Zungu number three and we’re a little in love with them too.
- S’khaleni and Pam
Who knew S’khaleni could be Mzansi’s favourite husband. When he won R200 000 in the LOTTO quick pick, he didn’t just buy himself the taxi he always wanted but made plans to build a house for him and Pam.
- Judas and Beauty
If Bonnie and Clyde were a Mzansi couple, it would have been Judas and Beauty. The pair were inseparable, from prison breaks to squatting on Jozi streets in hiding. They gave us the best disguises and although Judas was an evil mastermind, one thing we can’t deny is that he loved his wife dearly, even to his death.
- Dam Dam and Vava Voom
Age ain’t nothing but a number when it comes to Saddam and Lillian’s love. Did you ever think you would find such a young at heart, passionate and committed couple on Isibaya? Dam Dam and Vava Voom have been through so much together from losing a child to fighting Judas.
