Tee's Idols debut is easily one of the most memorable of the season because of how she stood out from thousands at the close of Durban Auditions. She delivered a stirring rendition of Amanda Black's 'Amazulu', winning our Judges over with her energy and confidence. Sis' Unathi even shared some of her food with her because the poor girl had been waiting in line all day and was very honest about the fact that she was "hungry!". After three yeses and some biltong, sweets and fruit from Unathi, Tee was dancing out of the rehearsal room as everyone (except Randall, lol) pounded the desk and cheered her on! It wouldn't be the last time she created an electric atmosphere either.
One observation Unathi made back in Durbs was that Tee was quite reserved when it came time to perform and she needed to bring her electric personality through more. When Theatre Week rolled around, Tee finally got another chance to "wow" us. While all the other groups were messing up lyrics and crumbling under pressure, Tee, Mthokozisi and Minnie were raising the roof with a stellar rendition of 'Beneath Your Beautiful'! Her proudest moment was yet to come however. She got a beheamoth of a song for Solo Rounds, Jill Scott's ' A Long Walk'. However, she shouldered the immense pressure and vocal fatigue delivering one of the most iconic performances of the season.Â
The magic didn't stop there with Tee playing it smart and taking on formidable songs by local divas such as Kelly Khumalo, Lira and the legendary, Brenda Fassie. In every single instance she kept raising the bar while managing to make each song her own. Not an easy feat when you take on a timeless classics like 'Too Late For Mama'
Even her exit was epic with the young star doing a split on stage before rushing off with the same broad smile and energy that she'd entered the competition with. Her farewell, live chat was a hoot too with Tee sending out apologies to all her "bad-bads" who'll now have to wait a little longer to cash in on the fortune she promised. It's further proof that Tee left her mark and has the fire to make serious inroads in this business. We're going to miss her animated, care-free demeanour and hearing her scream, "Yaaaaas Honey!" all the time. Here's to a life full of happiness and triumphs. Farewell Tee!
