A star-studded affair is about to add more drama to primetime television as Mzansi Magic premieres Magaeng, a magnetic and humorous dramedy series featuring an extraordinary ensemble cast. Premiering on Monday 10 July, Magaeng guarantees to capture audiences with suspense and its intriguing storyline as it introduces us to the glamorous Ndaba family.
At the core of the series is Zama Ndaba, portrayed by award-winning actress Khabonina Qubeka. Zama is a confident and ambitious woman ready to embark on a journey to fame by joining a popular reality show. Determined to distance herself from her family's criminal past, she aims to leave her mark on the world.
Placed under witness protection in a small rural town, Zama assumes the identity of Sheila, accompanied by her teenage children, played by Kopano Mahlasi and Bonga Mhlongo. The Ndaba family must adapt to their new low-profile personas, sticking together while evading past dangers. Can Zama maintain their cover? The threat of "blend in or be killed" looms over them.
Shirley Adonisi, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net says, "Monday nights on Mzansi Magic are for compelling shows filled with secrets, suspense, and unexpected twists. Magaeng brings a fresh and thrilling storyline that will keep viewers glued to their screens. With its flawless blend of drama and comedy, Magaeng promises to be an apt complement to the thrilling reality shows that dominate the weekdays. It's a show that reflects the diversity and richness of South African television, and we believe it will resonate with viewers who want compelling narratives and engaging performances."
In the coming weeks, Magaeng promises an electrifying experience, replacing the popular show Isifiso while seamlessly integrating into the line-up. Veteran actor Themba Ndaba plays Bheki, Zama's manipulative and greedy husband, whose life takes a dramatic turn as the police close in on him.
Adding depth to the series, Thato Molamu plays Thabang, the local police captain entrusted with protecting the Ndaba family's secret. As the web of intrigue and deception unfolds, Thabang is torn between upholding the law and confronting his personal demons. In addition to Tinah Mnumzane, Sdumo Mtshali, and Kagiso Rakosa, Phupho Gumede and Lethabo Mathatho from The Real Housewives franchise make guest appearances.
Magaeng guarantees a rollercoaster of emotions, laughter, and suspense in each episode. The star-studded cast delivers exceptional performances, breathing life into the rich and complex characters and ensuring an unforgettable viewing experience.
Don't miss the premiere of Magaeng on Monday 10 July, exclusively on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 20:00.
