A star is born in King B!
King B 02

It’s hard to say which caught the judge’s attention first; his striking blouse or his sensational voice. Either way, the future star named King B made a lasting impression with an audition that may very well have been one of the best at the Pretoria auditions. From then on the 19 year old singer went on an incredible Idols journey that turned him into a household name and national favourite with seemlingly endless flawless perfomances!

At Theatre Week there wasn’t a behind left on its seat when he absolutely raised the roof with a spine-tingling rendition of Etta James’ ‘At Last’. The impassioned performance showed a level of skill that was well beyond his years and made him a near-guaranteed pick for the Top 16. That however was not the end of King B’s reign as a stage-slayer!

The live shows saw him continue to grow from strength to strength as he feed off the infectious love and energy from his fans while taking constructive criticism from the judges in his stride. It almost become impossible to imagine what he would do next as the electric performances kept coming but it was his ballads that truly won him the hearts of the nation.

There was no artist too big for him to tackle as he even Adele wasn’t sparred. His rousing take on her iconic classic ‘Make You Feel My Love’ cemented his star status yet the best was still yet to come. As Mzansi anxiously waited to see who would make the Top 5, King B dug into the depths of his soul and pulled out one of the most memorable tear-jerker performances when he delivered an emotion-packed cover of ‘Say Something’. It was perhaps that song amongst his many pitch perfect performances that forever remained on people’s minds. And although his Idols journey has since come to an end, it goes without saying the road ahead is paved with nothing but amazing opportunities for the golden voiced young man.
