Tebogo Thekisho, better known as ProVerb and the host of Idols SA, first caught Mzansi’s attention in 2005 with his now-classic debut hip-hop album ‘The Book of ProVerb’ – a record that now shares the name of his debut book!
As a teenager he sought music wherever he could find it, and recorded his first demo at age 15, using his mom’s hi-fi. From there, he hustled his way into a multifaceted, award-winning media career in music, radio and TV, crafting a reputation on platforms such as Channel O, Jam Alley and YFM. He’s been the host of Idols South Africa for over a decade.
In this memoir, ProVerb pays tribute to the people who’ve helped make him the person he is, especially his parents, his grandmother, and his siblings. He shares the lessons he learned through the different phases of his life with an infectious positivity but also gets frank about the dark times he’s endured, including his painfully public divorce and attempted suicide.*
‘The Book of ProVerb’ is a memoir, a hustle manifesto, and a wholesome guide to life from one of South Africa’s brightest stars.
ProVerb is the host and co-producer of Idols SA and the presenter of two radio shows on KAYA FM. As a rapper, he’s released five acclaimed albums, and he’s also a formidable public speaker, emcee, and businessman who has an extensive property portfolio. He’s a doting father of two.
The book is co-written with Paballo Rampa, who has worked as a journalist, editor, columnist, and social media manager. Her first book ‘Tumi Goes to the Park’ was released in 2017 as part of a drive to improve childhood literacy in South Africa.
The book is available in stores NOW!
