Three couples and a bevy of hot singles mingle in hopes of meeting a match made in polyamorous heaven on S’jola Sonke. Tswyza is the perfect man for the job, as he helps the roomies navigate life in the villa with buckets of comedy, a natural cadence, and plenty of street credibility.
The South African actor, comedian, and businessman is not new to this. In fact, he can teach us a thing or two about sustaining longevity in a cutthroat business that spits them out as quickly as they shoot to fame. You know what else? He can also teach us about holding down different bags to bolster his impressive portfolio.
Here are some fun facts about the fave host with the most, Mr. Tswyza himself.
Real name Kope Makgae, Tswyza started his hustle by selling Kota sandwiches in high school. While his culinary passions are certainly no afterthought in that enterprise, the main goal was always for him to be able to fund his studies. The next chapters of his grind included dives in the worlds of catering and later making curtains for nursing homes.
The plan worked because Makgae was able to graduate with a BA in Media and Communications at the University of Limpopo. Not one to miss the opportunity to start making a stack, Tswyza soon joined a modeling and acting agency. It is here that his illustrious career in Mzansi entertainment began.
The father of two has also dabbled in music. As recently as 2021, Tswyza made a triumphant return to the charts through the release of his amapiano single ‘Wang’kwishisha’ with Villa, Mapentane, and Pyy Logdrum.
Having mastered the entertainment business in its multiple forms is not where the work stops for the S’jola Sonke host. The actor also founded a non-profit organisation called Hip Hop, which creates a platform for bringing hope back to the youth through music.
With an online TV channel, a successful acting career, big numbers in music, and hands in philanthropy, it’s clear that Tswyza, though loved for being a charisma-tron, is a man with a plan.
