Mambo Mugodo
The last Mambo/king of the Balobedu who ruled over the long years of drought. He becomes so paranoid about the loss of his rainmaking powers that he goes on a murderous rampage, killing his sons, fearing that they may stage a coup against him. His death brings an end to the patrilineal leadership, paving the way for the first woman leader of the Balobedu, Modjadji, the Rain Queen.
