Hit and miss for the Hip Hop Gqom  Challenge

Last week, the addition of choreography to the judging criteria put the choirs to the ultimate test. The Hip Hop Vs Gqom Challenge meant they had to not only deliver top vocals, but also killer dance moves. The performances didn’t have Mzansi too excited, with many fans commenting that their faves were too focused on the dancing instead of the singing.

Many were surprised to see #TeamHLE at the bottom of the scoreboard and felt the non-elimination round gave the choirs a small sense of relief.  Best believe, the stakes are higher this week as they continue to fight for that number one spot.

This is what X had to say about the non-elimination:

The Piano Playoff Challenge

The challenges keep getting even more lit, and we foresee even more dancing being incorporated. This week, the choirs tackle Mzansi's most popular and authentic genre, amapiano. This genre has taken the world by storm and is a blend of Africa’s many genres, from Afrobeats to kwaito. The beating heart of amapiano is its signature percussive base, with top-of-mind lyrics to match. This genre is also very vocally driven with some of the best vocalists on our piano hits, so the choirs better serve us!

We're excited and can't wait to see them slay on the stage. However, the looming elimination is a reminder that good is just not enough. Which choirs will prove to be the best and find themselves in the top four? And which choir will be sent home packing? Tune in this Sunday at 18:00 to see if your faves can stand the heat.
