Kelly Khumalo
Superstar singer and actress Kelly Khumalo hails from Spruitview in the East of Johannesburg, so it's all very well that she's the Gauteng Choirmaster. The talented musician first burst onto the South African music scene in 2005 with her Afro-Pop album TKO, which truly was a total knockout as she was the Best Newcomer of 2005 in the Afro Pop music circuit. In May 2013, at the 19th South African Music Awards (SAMA) held at Sun City, she won the Best Female Artist award. She has to date 6 albums under her belt, cementing her position as musician worth her weight in gold.
Kelly's first television acting role was on the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com. Then, when the youth soapie Rhythm City started on e.tv in 2007, she was chosen to play Sunay, the role of a singer, which was very close to her own persona as a singer. She's also appeared on reality shows Rolling With and Reality Check.
Of Clash of the Choirs season three, she says, "If we want to win, we have to sound like gold."
