Ntandokazi is our archetypal ride-or-die, adventurous, free spirit who does not want her beautiful self to be tied down to anything. Ntando likes to try out new things and new experiences.
This really comes in handy with her career because all these new experiences put her at the top of her pack. She is driven, and her ambition is to get paid more, she hates the idea of resting on your laurels and losing your edge and becoming obsolete. So, she loves change, the more drastic the better – of course change on her terms, because she really hates being told what to do, and how to do it.
Growing up in testosterone-ville with very little oestrogen taught her how to carve out and protect her space and her things, which makes her quite a fearsome adversary. Competitive as she is, Ntando found in Thato, a man worth fighting for – a man who seemed to accept her as she is, appreciated her wild nature, and loved her regardless of all the character traits that her past boyfriends always complained about.
Falling in love forced Ntando into a situation where she has to live under the memory of what Ipeleng brought to the Zembe family, a fact that her mother in law takes great pleasure in reminding her of. And this has created in Ntando an unreasoning anger and bitterness that leads her to act in ways that threaten her and Thato’s happiness.
