As you probably know by now, the Housemates have already been dealt their first Wager Task, where they bet a percentage of their weekly income on their ability to execute the Task correctly. Perhaps as a result of over-confidence, or maybe they just really rate themselves, the Housemates decided to bet 100% on the outcome. While this means the rewards might be huge, the fear of failure is palpable in the House.
As a quick reminder, on Thursday the Housemates will be required to deliver a short story, poem, or play (or a combination of all three) about who they are and where they are from. No raw materials will be provided, and each Housemate must participate. In other words – a single weak link could bring them all down.
Last night, the Housemates debated whether they would spend some time working on the Wager Task. Tulz, in his newly minted role as Head of House, decided to leave the decision to the result of a popular vote. Democracy is all good and well, but might this be a sign of indecision on his part, or an unwillingness to have to take responsibility for his decisions? Whatever the reason for the democratic vote, the outcome was that the work on the Task would be postponed to today.
This did not sit particularly well with Dinkybliss – they had already been reprimanded by Biggie for their failure at the “no names” twist, and – with all their income riding on their ability to pull off this job – the prospect of failure was all-consuming. Aside from Dinkybliss, a few other female Housemates seem to be taking this Task a bit more seriously than the others: Acacia and Yoli took the lead in conceptualising their performances in the afternoon, already, and they were joined by Thato in the evening in trying to formulate a creative direction for their Task.
While it’s true that they still have some time to pull it together, the reality is that many of the Housemates have no experience with this sort of thing, and the fact that they need to tell 18 stories might be a bigger challenge than they fully realise. The next two days are going to be key.
