With filming for the highly anticipated Queen Modjadji season 1 now more than a month in, the team behind the Mzansi Magic drama has announced the latest cast member to join its production. Queen Modjadji will start on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161 in July.
During a recent set visit, executive producer Duma Ndlovu confirmed that Wiseman Zitha would be taking on the role of Mamaila, King Mugodo’s estranged son who is raised by King Thulare. An award-winning actor, Zitha is best known for his work on Mzansi Magic’s Rockville, The River, Entangled on 1Magic, and Musangwe on Showmax.
He joins previously announced cast members Ngelekanyo Ramulondi, Masutang Rasekele, Helen Lebepe, and Thabo Bopape.
About joining what’s set to be an epic project, Zitha says: “This is such a big deal to me because I wanted to be part of it so badly — from the time I got the audition brief, I manifested it. I’m elated to have landed this role and cannot believe that I’m part of such groundbreaking show.”
He concludes: “This is history in the making. This is the first of its kind — we are the first people to tell a Khelobedu story in the history of South African television. We are giving it our all on set every day and I’m working with amazing people. I am so grateful.”
Announced by Mzansi Magic in February, Queen Modjadji is the brainchild of Rhythm World productions and starts in July.
