Although Thabang and Makhumo’s marriage was chilled by an icy detour on last Sunday’s episode, their story has been compelling.
However, viewers gasped as Thabang claimed that Makhumo had not been faithful in their marriage. The shocking scenes took place at the recommitment ceremony, in which each of the four couples were given the platform to either re-affirm their vows and begin a life together beyond of Married At First Sight Mzansi, or call it quits. Having navigated life as lovers, spouses and life partners for about three months, the couples now knew enough of their spouse to make an informed decision.
But while Makhumo happily re-committed herself to her husband Thabang, the lush summer afternoon was tossed into the shadows when Thabang delivered a scathing account of how the felt Makhumo had entertained sneaky links in their marriage. He expressed how he felt that she had not taken their marriage as seriously as he did, and thus betrayed him not long after the pair tied the knot. “From your beloved ex-husband”, he concluded his un-commitment monologue, in which he gagged locals with back-to-back blows of a spicy claim.
As viewers get ready for a conclusive outcome in their marriage on Sunday’s reunion episode, they are also well aqcuainted with the blues in the young marriage. After all, it hasn’t been that long since the pair had an explosive confrontation in front of the other couples. It took place during a couples’ retreat where Thabang and Makhumo did not hold back about troubled adjustments in their new life together. At the time, most of their problems centred around navigting a shared space as a marriage couple, the division of responsibility and home chores, as well a percieved lack of respect from both parties.
In the coming weeks, the couple began to work therough their problems in therapy. Each of them took responsibility for their part in the storm.
On Sunday, however, a new revelation landed as a shocking ambush – in which Makhumo has a lot to answer to.
