Thando and Mohamed met on a flight back from France, in November 2014. She was returning home, after trying to salvage her marriage with her now former husband, and little did she know that the stranger sitting next to her would be the man she’d marry three years later.

The two exchanged numbers and communicated via Skype when they got back to their respective countries. This went on for a while and by then, they were already in a relationship. They would meet in Zanzibar to catch up and spend some time together. Mohamed proposed during one of those visits and Thando was thrilled. She said “Yes” and they agreed to get married right there in Zanzibar.
