S’two’s too good for goodbyes – Idols SA

News
26 November 2021
Sweet sweet S’22kile walked into the audition room as a dynamite in a small package and left Idols SA with an explosive exit!
S22 Farewell

From the moment S’22kile signed her name outside the audition room, she signed her way into stardom! The stroke of her signature has more talent than many and then you hear her sing… Just, perfection. When people start off by saying they come from a family of singers, it can tend to raise some eyebrows but S’22kile rose to the occasion when she auditioned with Adele’s ‘One and Only’ and bagged herself a Golden Ticket to Theatre Week.

Question, tell us what you thought about S’2 after this performance?! The ladies absolutely went all the way in with this one, S’22kile, Faith and Andiswa (who also later became a Top 16 contestant)! This was S’22kile’s third qualifying round but her real second performance which was there to determine if she’d make it into the next round of Solo Performances. S’22kile and the ladies in this Group Performance sang ‘Independent Women’ by Destiny’s Child and the judges felt her so they threw their yes up at her!

In her solo round, S’22kile sang Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’, quite an apt song for her and quite the dedication to little girls and women who she represents! She gave it her absolute all and received her pearly yes to go into the live shows as a Top 16 contestant!

Fast-forward to the 2nd week of live shows, S’22kile is part Top 16 Group B and her chosen song is Bebe Rexha’s ‘Meant To Be’, to which she made her own by stripping it of its country popness and added her own flavour and attitude, proving that she is truly meant to be on Idols SA.

Idols SA really pulled out all the stops for the Top 9 Reveal show, inviting SA’s finest DJs to perform alongside the finalists! S’22kile performed alongside De Mthuda and sang ‘Wamuhle’ and she really owned the vocals! It also doesn’t hurt that she was singing the truth because wow sisi! Umuhle!

Top 8 Reveal show, S’22kile sang Nomcebo Zikode’s ‘Xola Moya Wam’ and we believe this the show where she truly gained her following and adoring fans, ‘S’2VILLE’. When the judges hit low, the fans went high and the voting craze began! She’s always been one to come on that stage and give her absolute best and this performance was no exception.

She came back stronger the next week in the Top 7 Reveal how, emulating a young Brenda Fassie (RIP) with ‘No No Senor’! She gave it attitude, vocals and brought the 90s jam forward into the 2000s! Watch to see what we mean:

The judges dubbed this S’22kile’s best performance of the season at the time and we are in agreement! For the Showstopper show, the whole Idols SA crew really outdoes itself and spared nothing for S’22kile’s performance. From stage design, to the outfit to the prop design, everything! She performed Beyonce’s ‘Dance For You’ and showed a very grown up side to her; how she handled herself on stage, her vocal strength and overall stage presence. See for yourself:

Top 6 Reveal show the finalists were tasked to sing two songs and S’2 took on Rethabile Khumalo’s ‘Ntyilo Ntyilo’ and Adele’s ‘Send My Love’:

S’2VILLE again came out to support her beautiful performances when they felt that the judges weren’t being fair to the talented singer. That speaks volumes to the type of power S’22kile possesses; her voice is enchanting, her face is perfect and her energy is wholesome and tangible. What’s not to love?

She’s so easy to love! And that became clear when she was voted into Top 5 and wowed us all with Bucie’s ‘Easy To Love’...

… And she sealed off her performances for the night with Rihanna’s ‘Love On The Brain’ and it was clear that the theme of the night was love; the love her fans have for S’2 and how much we love her voice.

One thing about S’22kile, she knows what works for her voice and what artist’s songs are made for her, so in the Top 4 Reveal show, she summoned her inner RiRi once more to give us a stellar rendition of ‘Diamonds’...

… And put ithemba lakhe (her faith) in Sun-El Musician’s ‘Sonini’ to get her into the next round, Top 3!

Whilst we’re on the faith topic, S’22kile and South African gospel artist, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, took us to church in the Top 3 Reveal show! They performed ‘Mhlekazi’ and S’22kile really held her own while performing with a veteran such as Hlengiwe!

After being announced as a Top 3 finalist, she got right back to business singing two songs, the 1st, Amanda Black’s ‘Mna Nawe’, which she absolutely mopped the floor with!...

… The 2nd and her last song of the evening was Doja Cat’s ‘Woman’ and we don’t think she’s gotten enough credit for the way she delivered the opening rap lines! WHAT! S’2 really is the bomb.com!

There are absolutely no losers on Idols SA! Everyone that has come gains something if not everything! And though S’22kile didn’t win this season’s title, she got to record a beautiful single with Kalawa Jazmee called, ‘Falling’, and how many people can say that they have a single, let alone, recorded by the reputable Kalawa Jazmee! Give her single a listen and remember to stream and download it: https://KalawaJazzmee.lnk.tt/Falling
