Idols SA

All roads are leading to Day 3 of the Idols SA season 19 auditions. Thanks to the judges Somizi, Thembi Seete and JR, who scoured the streets of South Ah to unearth the country’s next big muso, we are getting ready to watch another round of talent displays.

A slew of hopefuls takes the leap to pursue their dreams of making it big every Saturday at 18:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) and at 19:30 on Mzansi Wethu.

The feels

It’s ending in tears this Saturday. The gag is, it’s not in the way you think. Understandably, one or two dreams will be dashed when the judges’ critiques return with no apologies during the auditions.

Fortunately, there is enough support to make sure that even the most brow-raising auditions leave feeling like stars. The tears, as seen in this week’s sneak peek, will be flowing in the judges' panel and on the audition floor.

The five hats

We recently gave ProVerb his flowers for consistently finessing his hosting duties on Idols SA. Since season six, the perfect host has showcased the layers to his craft. He makes it okay to miss out on a Golden Ticket.

And he makes us all chuckle with his quick-witted banter and clap backs. He ProVerb also has access to the fountain of youth, which is always a wonder to behold. Tune in to see ProVerb showing us why he is a Pro.

The talent

We are in the farewell season of Idols SA. The stakes are high. The judges are looking for the kind of talent that is worthy to take the torch and embody the essence of an idol.

That is, talent that comes with the x-factor, the big stage presence, the ability to capture audiences, the flexibility needed to adapt to different sonic styles and superstar quality. We are about to see what Mzansi has been hiding from the big stage.

The judgement

While it's ultimately about the contestants, the judges have not missed an opportunity to put on a show and get us laughing, guessing, and crying. Whether it’s Somizi rolling on the floor while tossing around a bunch of Golden Tickets, the sounds Thembi Seete makes when an audition starts going south, or JR’s boss energy, you’ve got plenty to get excited about.

Wooden Mic

It goes without saying, everyone loves the Wooden Mic auditions! This is now the new highlight for a Saturday indoors.

Idols SA airs every Saturday at 18:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), thereafter on Mzansi Wethu at 19:30.
