The Hell Week Survivor's Kit

News
02 August 2018
Theatre Week can be quite taxing for our contestants and their fans and supporters (who watch on helplessly from home). That's why we're doling out some tips for getting through the tough times ahead.

FOR OUR CONTESTANTS

Put in work from the jump!

A fixture in past seasons has been contestants getting blind-sided when the heat gets turned up immediately! Perhaps the pristine views at Wild Coast Sun get people in vacation mode and before they know it, they're heading home without even unpacking their luggage.

Bottomline: It's lit from DAY ONE and that first Audition is critical.

Relax and rest up

Panic reduces your abilty to focus and work productively under pressure. If you're stuck in a never-ending cycle of anxiety nothing seeps into the mind. You certainly won't be able to unwind and recharge when it comes time to either. The vocal strain and forgotten lyrics that have plagued contestants in years past often have little to do with laziness and much to do with fatigue.

Don't forget to have fun!

With a hectic schedule & the unrelenting stress of elimination hanging over one's head, it's easy to lose sight of the main objective! You've been brought here to thrill, excite and entertain on stage. If all that stress translates on stage you won't to get far since both Top 16 and a successful career in entertainment entail much of the same.

FOR OUR VIEWERS

Stock up on tissues and a little comfort food for the feels before Sunday (we're not going to judge). You could even watch with a friend for a little morale boost if you need one. It also doesn't hurt to remember that these are real people and showing love to those who fight hard but fall short is always much appreciated. Lastly, (as is often quoted on social media), "A 'no' is not a 'never.'" Everyone who bows out in the coming weeks has lived to fight another day whether they're conscious of that or not. In this business, glory belongs to the tenacious.
