Day 3 of the Idols SA auditions arrived with all the clout on Saturday. In the days leading up to the much-talked-about show, a teaser had teased moments of high emotions among the judges and the contestants.

The popular singing competition delivered on the promises, leaving viewers in their feels as a number of hopefuls took the leap of faith in front of South Africa.

Further to the rush of emotions that did not leave a stern JR unbothered, the show packed a punch with surprises. Zonke’s long-time backup vocalist made a stop, and immediately sent Somizi into a frenzy. He rates Zonke as his favourite South African artist.

What followed was a setting of high expectations. Reamogotse needed to impress the judges, while making Zonke smile at home. Fortunately, her rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘All I Do' earned her a Golden Ticket.

Zamanguni’s agility was tested, and it ended in tears. Somizi needed to hear how the Kwa Zulu Natal star would be able to adapt to different sounds. After giving several songs a try, Zamanguni did not make the cut. Following her audition, Zamanguni stormed out and refused to debrief with ProVerb. She’d had enough.

Loveness, on the other hand, took the critiques as they came. She got the judges hitting the floor for a dance-a-thon, exactly as a star should. Sadly, the singing portion of her audition did not open the way to theatre week.

Then came Daniel, who left us all feeling things. Having looked forward to the day he finally goes for the stars on idols SA, the aspiring singer first tackled JR’s mega-hit Make The Circle Bigger.

The moment instantly turned the set into an upbeat party. Unfortunately, however, Daniel’s actual audition did not garner the same level of “ooh”s. It became clear how hard he took the feedback, which led the judges to go and give him a hug.

Asanda has a prediction;
