Clash of the Choirs SA judges and choirmasters are known for quirky one-liners that perfectly reflect their personalities. Below, we have compiled some of those memorable phrases.

“The pressure is getting worser.”

This comical phrase belongs to amapiano superstar and choirmaster Lady Du. Known for being expressive, funny, and sometimes very strict, Lady Du would utter these words just before her team got on stage to perform.

In COTCSA, "The pressure is getting worser” or "The pressure is getting worsa” is used when a situation becomes serious and pressure needs to be applied to fix it.

Here’s how you can use the phrase:

"Un-Beyoncé this song."

After Ntencane's team delivered a brilliant performance of Beyoncé’s 'Love On Top', Buhlebendalo tearfully told the group, "Before you started, I hoped you’d un-Beyoncé this song" – meaning she’d hoped the team would perform the song even better than the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist, Beyoncé herself. Judging from the standing ovation, Buhlebendalo got what she wanted.

“Be impirish.”

Iconic performer and member of the legendary award-winning kwaito group TKZee, Zwai Bala used this phrase after Lady Du’s team performed Kelly Khumalo’s ‘Impi’. Expecting more of them, Bala said, “Be impirish”, meaning the team should have performed as if they were in a war.

“Awe ma!”

This phrase shows excitement. When any of the judges shout "Awe ma!", don't be shocked. Just know that the performance is giving what it's supposed to.
