SAINTS AND SINNERS SEASON 3

Mzansi Magic’s gripping family drama, Saints and Sinners, is back for a nail-biting third season, that’s going to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Full of angst and personal turmoil, this season’s storyline is layered with a cocktail of emotions: from hypocrisy and moral dilemmas, to ethical decisions and conflict.

“This is Saints and Sinners’ best season yet!” declares Reneilwe Sema, M-Net Local Entertainment Channels’ Head of Drama . “The storyline is reflective of our modern society. The drama holds up a mirror to the world we live in, where anger, resentment and bitterness, are often in conflict with feelings of guilt, anxiety and consequence.”

Season three picks up from the cliffhanger of last year, with Mamohato being carted off to prison. This sees the family suffering far-reaching consequences: Phindi cuts all ties with her mother, Boni is left bewildered, and Ndumiso’s loyalty to her mother is put to the true test as she accepts why her mother resorted to criminal actions. Mamohato, in the meantime, swears she stole the matric dance dress out of love for her family, and murdered to save Phakamani. Will she be able to escape Phakamani’s wrath as he seeks a cold revenge?

Sema says that for the new season, the writers and producers wanted to explore the human psyche more – the darker side as well as the “good” side. “The core theme is ‘choice’. It’s about determining the route of your journey when faced with what seems like impossible odds and hurdles. In the end, every individual gets to a point where they have to choose their path and destiny.”

Through intertwining storylines, the recurring theme of forgiveness versus retaliation also gets explored further, while the viewer still gets to see the story unfold as some suffer the consequences of “getting away with murder”.

Returning to their roles are the cast that Mzansi has fallen in love with.  Nthathi Moshesh (Mamohato), S’dumo Mtshali (Ndumiso), Tshepo Maseko (Thabang), Siyabonga Radebe -(Phakamani), Yonda Thomas (Siya) and Thuso Mbedu (Boni), are just some of the power performers that make up this impressive cast list.

New characters include: Thami Mngqolo (David), Baby Cele (Celiwe), Aya Mpama (Baby) and Bongiwe Ngidi (Khethiwe), among others.

Saints and Sinners Season three premieres on Mzansi Magic (DSTV channel 161) at 8PM on 8 January, 2017.
