Episode six of Queen Modjadji delivered a whirlwind of deceit, dangerous alliances, and heart-wrenching betrayals. As Queen Modjadji’s (played by Makoma Mohale) enemies close in, the tension soars higher. With allies becoming challengers and ancient loyalties tested, this episode has solidified Queen Modjadji as a must-watch series, where the kingdom's fate hangs by a thread.

The queen’s unyielding guardian
Khadikhulu (played by Mudi Mudau) stands tall as Queen Modjadji’s fiercest protector, navigating the storm of betrayal surrounding the throne. The episode opens with Nduna Boke (Sanku Patrick Bokaba) delivering news that Mamaila (Wiseman Zitha) is still alive. Upon learning that Dzugudini (pMasutang Rasekele) saved Mamaila later in the episode, Khadikhulu's concern for the queen's safety drives her to confront Dzugudini. However, despite Khadikhulu’s fierce words, Dzugudini remains calm – her hunger for power simmering beneath the surface. Khadikhulu's resolve to protect the queen only strengthens, but the weight of the kingdom's troubles begins to show.

A fractured friendship
The bond between Queen Modjadji and Raisibe (Helen Lebepe), once unbreakable, is shattered in this emotionally charged episode. Dabedi (Tebatso Mashishi), newly appointed as the Queen’s Keeper of Secrets by Ramulodi (Putla Sehlapelo), arrives at the royal compound, stirring memories of a long-buried love connection. The queen recalls Raisibe promising never to fall for a man – yet her feelings for Dabedi, dating back to their childhood, surface. Feeling deeply betrayed by this and the fact that Raisibe might have orchestrated Dabedi’s appointment, the qsueen banishes Raisibe from the royal compound. This banishment leaves the queen isolated and vulnerable at a time when she needs the most support.

Mamaila’s desperate quest and his mother’s pleas
Mamaila’s relentless pursuit of the throne is driven by ambition but is met with resistance from his mother, Khuwele (Khutjo Green). Despite her desperate pleas for him to abandon his dangerous quest, Mamaila is determined to claim what he believes is rightfully his. Dzugudini fuels his determination but warns him that the Bapedi army cannot be trusted. Mamaila takes heed of this and agrees to continue to enter into a plot with Dzugudini. Dzugudini, ever-cunning, reveals their plan to follow Raisibe, certain she will lead them to Queen Modjadji.

A deadly plot unfolds
Queen Modjadji experiences a chilling premonition of danger. This unease is echoed by a local praise singer (Lutendo Evens Mugagadeli), who warns Raisibe that she knows who is plotting against the queen's life. Despite her banishment, Raisibe is compelled to act, hoping to protect Queen Modjadji from the deadly threat that looms. The tension reaches a high when Dzugudini and Queen Modjadji finally meet face-to-face. Dzugudini's hatred is palpable, and her intentions to kill the queen become clear. Fortunately, Dabedi arrives just in time to save the queen from her birth mother’s deadly plot.

Mamaila’s tragic downfall
Mamaila, driven by a desire to end Queen Modjadji’s life and claim the throne, trails her during a solitary walk in the forest. However, Raisibe's plan leads Mamaila into a trap. Instead of finding the queen, Mamaila meets his unexpected demise, leaving viewers stunned.

The future of the Balobedu kingdom
With Mamaila’s death, one immediate threat to the queen has been removed, but the kingdom remains on the edge of collapse. Dzugudini’s relentless pursuit of power, the divided royal council and the ever-present danger to the queen's life all point to more challenges ahead. Khadikhulu's unwavering support remains the queen's strongest defence, but will it shield her from the forces conspiring against her?

The battle for the throne is far from over, and the next episode promises to bring even more twists and turns. Stay tuned to Queen Modjadji every Sunday at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic, channel 161, for more reveals.
