Pepeta is a Swahili word that means “juggle a ball” or “fire a gun”. The show is a moving depiction of crime’s close relationship with football.   

Pepeta follows the true story of Rio, Figo, Papaa, and Jesse. These four talented and aspiring footballers lived in the sprawling slums of Kibera and had big dreams of playing professionally. As they navigated the perilously accepted life of crime, their lives became complicated when they landed on the radar of a ruthless detective named Wanyama and the slum’s crime lord, Zeze.  

The four footballers' life story was brought to life by Junior, Dayo, Dimore and Ade. In the premiere episode, the team turned to Zeze for support in buying soccer boots – an action that led them down the wrong path. Watch the highlights here:
