Desert Rose is gritty, raw, and above all, helluva realistic. Set in South Africa’s Northern Cape, the terrain is almost as unforgiving as life is.

There’s Patti, Augustus Dolly's wife. At first glance, she comes across as naïve because she seems unaware of her husband’s inner struggles. Yet, we’ve seen her good heart, while bruised, she always shows immense kindness, even with those who may cause the bruising. 💔 And in that, there is a quiet strength that is difficult to ignore.
There’s Eugene van As, an alleged ruthless debt collector. Nonetheless his intelligence has shown through with witty remarks and correction of people’s errors. The more we learn about him, the more of a bittersweet tragedy he becomes: someone who is trapped living a life of lies, in a marriage he doesn’t want to be in, yet unable to face his own truth and show it to the world. His feelings for Eben also show a very protective side. 😲
Jana Greyling has shown herself to be a firecracker. On social media, she has been described as unfiltered. 👊 We also see her as a fierce and loyal sister, willing to say what needs to be said and do what it takes to sort out problems.
