This Sunday you get to ride a storm with the chilling disaster action film Supercell, filled with adrenaline-rushing moments. Let's take a look at riveting natural disasters from popular movies over the years.Â
The first tornado in Twister
While Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton's characters are riding in a car they catch sight of a deadly tornado in the distance. It gets closer and closer and eventually drives them off the road. The super fast-moving tornado was huge and frightening and the scene had moviegoers hooked. Given that the movie was shot in 1996 and CGI was not what it is today, the scene is even more impressive.Â
The giant wave in The Perfect Storm
When the men in this disaster film based on a true story were caught in a deadly storm, an epic moment was created in cinema history. A giant wave swallowed the entire boat as George Clooney's character, Captain Frank William "Billy" Tyne, Jr, desperately tried his best to fight against it.Â
The ice storm in Everest
This was one intense scene as Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) tried to save his friend Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhall) during a gruesome ice storm. Many fans praised the special effects of this movie, as well as its rawness because no music was used over the scene, making it seem very realistic.Â
The tsunami in San Andreas
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson braved a larger-than-life tsunami in this action-packed film. The incredible scene shows the tsunami engulfing the Golden Gate Bridge and wreaking havoc on the lives of residents in San Francisco, crushing everything in sight.Â
The hurricane in Crawl
It doesn't get scarier than this. In the horror movie Crawl, a family is caught in a deadly hurricane and has to survive being attacked by an alligator that's out for blood. In a chilling scene, we see the alligator lurking in the murky waters, ready to strike at any moment.Â
