If you’re wondering why we’re crushing on Ivie Okujaye, it's simply because she is the stuff that Nollywood dreams are made of! Here is all you need to know about her acting career so far.
Ivie shot to fame in 2009 after winning the fifth and final edition of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO), a reality show sponsored by Nigerian Breweries to find new talent for the Nigerian film industry. The win earned her a role in a film titled Alero’s Symphony where she played the role of a young woman whose wealthy family expect her to become a lawyer but chooses her musical talents.Â
The film became a hit and saw her star in many other shows like the drama-comedy series How She Left My Brother, alongside Ghanaian leading-man Chris Attoh.
It seems that Nollywood had welcomed Ivie with warm and giving arms, because by 2013, Miss Okujaye had won the coveted Trailblazer AMVCA award, and in 2014 the then 27-year-old Ivie became a film producer, with her first offering titled Make a Move.
The trajectory of her career is one that many industry hopefuls would dream of, moving upwards since the beginning of her journey. In the year 2020, she shone once again when Enakhe premiered on September 28, one day after the BBNaija finale.
Enakhe is set in modern-day Benin City and tells the story of a rebellious daughter who suddenly loses her father. The circumstances force her to grow in every way possible to become the leader of her extended family.
The series is filmed in Edo, with a cast and crew that is native to the state, including notable names like Alex Usifo, Ivie Okujaye, Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun, and Lota Chukwu.
We cannot wait to witness her future glory as she continues to grow in her art.
