Before you fell in love with the Chicago shows, you might have already fallen in love with some of its cast members. After all, Jesse Spencer was already well known as Dr Chase in House when he was cast as Matthew Casey in Chicago Fire. Many of the other actors had also appeared in a huge variety of shows and movies before their Chicago days. Here’s where you may have seen some of the current One Chicago cast before.

Chicago Fire

Taylor Kinney
It may be difficult to envision Kinney as anyone other than Kelly Severide, because he’s been on Chicago Fire since it started eleven years ago; but fans of The Vampire Diaries may have already been familiar with him since he appeared in several season 2 and 3 episodes. Additionally, he’s had roles in the rom-com The Other Woman and the Oscar-winning film Zero Dark Thirty. And let’s not forget the fact that he dated Lady Gaga for several years, making him a red carpet regular.

David Eigenberg
This actor is no stranger to our screens either, having appeared in Sex and the City since the second season, as well as both movies and the spin-off And Just Like That. Now, of course, we know him as Christopher Hermann, a character who’s also been there since the start.

Eamonn Walker
The English actor has also been there since day 1, as Wallace Boden, but he was already a TV stalwart having starred as Kareem Saïd in the renowned series Oz.

Chicago Med

Nick Gehlfuss
Although Gehlfuss – who plays Dr Halstead – had appeared in numerous TV shows before Chicago Med came along (these include The Newsroom, Shameless, and Murder in the First), Halstead was his first leading role. And we love him in it!

Brian Tee
Did you know that Tee’s name is actually Jae-Beom Takata? Brian Tee is just a stage name. He’s appeared in some fun movies (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, The Wolverine, and Jurassic World) and he’s been a regular on TV with appearances in Grey’s Anatomy, Grimm, and Hawaii Five-0.

Oliver Platt
Platt is a well-known name, which is little surprise since he’s been hard at work on screen since the ‘80s. From Flatliners, A Time to Kill, and The Three Musketeers to Lake Placid, Simon Birch, and 2012, if you’ve watched any movies at all you’re likely to have come across him before he started on Med as Dr Charles. But he’d also made his mark in television before (and since) with appearances in The West Wing, Nip/Tuck, Fargo, The Good Wife, Modern Family, and The Bear.

S Epatha Merkerson
Merkerson, the staunch and protective Sharon Goodwin, is another film veteran, having appeared in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Black Snake Moan, and Lincoln. Most recently she appeared in an episode of Poker Face (Wednesdays at 21:00 on M-Net) and if you have not watched it you have to check it out for, amongst other things, Merkerson’s fantastic performance. Catch up on the episode here.

Chicago PD

Jason Beghe
Beghe’s TV resume is impressive. Before Chicago PD rolled around, if you blinked you still wouldn’t have missed Beghe. Since the ‘80s he’s appeared in Murder, She Wrote, Melrose Place, Veronica Mars, Californication, and Castle. And Chicago PD is not his first Chicago-based show. He appeared in Chicago Hope in the ‘90s. However unlike PD, which is shot in Chicago, Hope was filmed in LA.

Patrick John Flueger
Before he was Adam Ruzek he was Shawn Farrell in The 4400. Flueger also appeared in CSI: Miami and Boston Public before heading to Chicago.
