She's the Manย
This comedy starring former comedy queen Amanda Bynes is based on Twelfth Night. It tells the story of Viola (Bynes) who impersonates her twin brother Sebastian, so she can take his place on his soccer team, in hopes of saving the girl's soccer team. Confusion, chaos, and hilarious moments occur as Viola fools everyone into thinking she is Sebastian, including his girlfriend, and finds romance along the way with dashing soccer captain Duke.
10 Things I Hate About You
Julia Stiles and the late Heath Ledger found love in this charming tale based onย The Taming of the Shrew.ย Kat's (Stiles) dad sets a strict rule that her younger sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) cannot date until Kat does, leaving Bianca in a sticky situation, because Kat doesn't date. Bianca's love interestย Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) comes up with a devious plan and pays mysterious bad boy Patrick (Ledger) to date Kat so he can date Bianca. Little does Patrick know he has his work cut out for him as Kat is feisty, super smart, and set in her ways. He ultimately ends up falling head over heels for her. The drama, the shenanigans, and heartbreaks all make this movie so loveable. The 2003 movie Deliver Us from Eva starring Gabrielle Union (who incidentally also stars inย 10 Things I Hate About You)ย was also based on The Taming of The Shrew. In this case, Eva's three younger sisters hire a man to date her in order to get her to stop meddling in their love lives.ย
Get Over It
This sweet comedy starring Kirsten Dunst and Ben Foster is inspired by the play A Midsummer's Night's Dream. It tells the story of high school senior Berke (Foster), who lands a minor role in the school's production of A Midsummer's Night's Dreamย in hopes of winning back his girlfriend Alison. The stage is set and tensions rise as Berke has to take on the lead role after the lead actor is injured, and finds himself falling for the lovely Kelly (Dunst) who is coaching him on his acting skills.ย
Anyone but You
Anyone But Youย is loosely based on Shakespeare's Much Ado Nothing. The story revolves around two people who briefly dated and then unexpectedly cross paths againย at a wedding in the Australian Outback. Filled with romance, comedy, and unexpected twists, it also happens to be this week's Sunday nignt movie, and you're in for laughs, love, and life lessons on Sunday at 20:30ย on M-Net 101.
