Five things we’ve learnt – Love Island SA

Here are the top five takeaways from this week.

Leading up to the finale, one thing we’ve learned is that on Love Island SA, you can leave the door open for six weeks straight and don’t get burgled. But that’s not the only thing we’ve learned.

Avoid dropping the P-bomb
Especially when you’re on national TV. Take it from Xavier, not only is your friends watching but you’re Ouma and auntie are too, and once they have the opportunity, they’ll scold you.

Represent the family
When you’re on a show like Love Island SA, always keep it in the back of your mind that the whole of South Africa is watching. Represent and don’t do things you wouldn’t do in front of your mother.

Have the lobola ready
Gentlemen, start investing in cows as early as possible. You don’t want to be the guy stuck in a situation where you fall in love, but you can’t afford the bride’s price. And don’t be afraid to boast about it. If you’ve got your eye on a girl, make it known that you have livestock grazing, waiting to be transacted.

Looks can be deceiving
First impressions last and take it from Millie, observe carefully before you speak. Otherwise, you might get yourself in a sticky situation, confusing a brother for a father. Okay, okay. But Asad did say: “Can I introduce you to my parents?”

Age doesn’t always matter
We hear you, Mamazala, and we approve. Age is but a number. What matters is love. If you’re into a guy younger than you, or a girl older than you, and you care very deeply about him or her, age really doesn’t matter.
