On the 8th of August 2022, the Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust will officially hand over Phases I and II of Neonatal and Paediatric works at Tygerberg Hospital.

These phases entail the construction and equipping of two specialised units: a Cardiothoracic ICU and an Isolation ICU.

This is the 22nd project completed by the Carte Blanche Trust, which has previously undertaken projects at 11 hospitals in six provinces.

Our most recent data indicate that well over 250 000 children have been assisted through these initiatives across the country.

Commenting on the Tygerberg project, Premier of the Western Cape, Mr. Alan Winde, said: “I wholeheartedly thank the Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust for their ongoing investment in healthcare initiatives in our province. The creation of this facility, made possible by them, will allow us to improve the life chances of more little babies born with medical conditions that require specialist intervention, helping to secure our very future. This investment matters a great deal because it will result in real outcomes - lives being saved. As the Western Cape Government, we have immense pride in the offering we are able to provide. Through partnerships like this, we are committed to improving and adding to our services, to make them even better, for the citizens we serve.”

Minister Nomafrench Mbombo was quoted as saying: “On behalf of the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, especially the Carte Blanche Making a Difference Trust for this thoughtful initiative. This allows us to channel our available budget to provide quality health services to those who are in desperate need. Our paediatric patients will now enjoy the state-of-the-art treatment in this wonderful facility. We would not have been able to achieve this without the partnership with the Trust.”
