Hailing from Mncuncuzo - a village in the Eastern Cape - matriculant Sibahle Fetile has always loved science. He never imagined that his fascination would one day take him to Antarctica. But that’s exactly what happened when he and four other matriculants from around the country were offered this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Founded by pioneering explorer, Riaan Manser, Matrics in Antarctica has become a game-changer for young science enthusiasts as they travel to the coldest place on earth to learn more about sustainability, conservation and the impact of climate change.
