Mare of Easttown

Two words: Kate Winslet. That’s right, the mega A-star takes on a TV series. And of course the Oscar winning actor hits the nail on the head as police detective Mare Sheehan from Easttown, Pennsylvania. And you’d never say she’s a British actor when she speaks in this show. Other than solving a gruesome murder, her personal life is plagued with many obstacles and struggles. ✅

The Flight Attendant

One of the stars from The Big Bang theory, Penny on that show, Kaley Cuoco takes on this complicated comedy, drama, mystery. It is really all of these things. As a flight attendant Cassie Bowden, she travels the world and is the MVP at any gathering. Why? Because she can drink and let loose. But there comes a snag. One morning she wakes up next to a dead man but has no memory of anything. Why? She was drunk. Beautifully woven together from his and her perspective, there’s a murder to solve and lives that need healing, with fun bits scattered all over it, like confetti. ✈️

Why Women Kill

There’s both season 1 and 2 on Showmax. Trust us, please: binge watch it all. Exceptionally witty, fun, warm but also poignant, it spans various timelines witnessing changes in the role of women. And of course, as per the title, the reason they kill. And somehow they make the killings seem not that harsh. 💪

Start with the first season on Showmax. 👈 And you’ll want to carry on with season 2.

Call me Kat

Cats, a cat café, plenty of coffee, and baked treats. What’s not to love about this show? Oh there’s also Mayim Bialik in the title role. You may remember her as Dr Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, or Blossom on the show of the same name. Here, as Kat, she is 39-years-old and left her job as a professor behind her … to open the cat café. What irks her mother is that she remains single and has no interest in getting married. 🐱
