Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has been successful in music and beyond. Here's a look at some hardcore facts about the equally hardcore superstar.

Dealing in drugs

50 Cent was just 8 years old when his mother was shot dead, and he had to move in with his grandmother. At the age of 12, he started dealing in drugs.

One man, nine bullets

In 2000, 50 Cent was famously shot nine times outside of his grandmother's house in South Jamaica, Queens. He was left riddled with bullets in his arms, legs, chest, hands, left cheek, and tongue. The bullet fragment lodged inside his tongue affects how he speaks.

Major drug burst

In 1994, at the age of 19, the actor with the rags-to-riches life story was arrested by an undercover police officer for selling cocaine. Three weeks later, in a home raid, crack and heroin were found in his home. He was sentenced to nine years in prison, with the option of going to boot camp for a shorter sentence of six months. He opted for boot camp.

Gangster name

In his 2005 memoir From Pieces to Weight: Once Upon a Time in Southside Queens, 50 Cent admitted to stealing his nickname from a notorious New York gangster known for robbing rappers.

Beef or beef?

The star had beef with various stars, especially rappers. At some point, one couldn't speak about 50 Cent without mentioning The Game, Ja Rule, Kanye West, or G Unit.
