The second episode of the action-packed series Devil’s Peak (M-Net, DStv channel 101) upped the action and it has become apparent that it is only a matter of time before Benny and Thobela’s paths cross.
A recap of the second episode:
- We meet Ntsusa ka Mlawu (Faith Baloyi). Her son, Jacob, was kidnapped a year ago and the police have been dragging their feet trying to find him. At a demonstration to try and stop the release of Enver Davids, Ntsusa is hurt when a policeman hits her in the face with his gun.
- Anna is told by her editor at the Cape Times that she must do an article on Ntsusa.
- A pathologist tells Bennie and Mbali that the weapon that killed Enver Davids is similar to an assegai.
- Thobela goes on another revenge attack – this time killing men involved in the trafficking of young girls, and prostitution. He asks his lawyer, Bonnie Mtetea (Thuli Thabethe), for help when he is hurt.
- Benny drinks again and accidentally hurts Anna. She pushes back, he hits his head against a countertop and wakes up in hospital. He is later taken off as the lead detective on the case and Mbali Kaleni (Masasa Mbangeni) takes over.
- Thobela meets up with Ntsusa and she gives him the registration number of the car that took Jacob a year ago. Thobla tracks down a man that might have something to do with the kidnapping. He kills the man in his apartment and moments later Benny arrives following up on a lead, but Thobela manages to escape without Benny seeing him.
In the third episode, two new characters become part of the ever-intriguing plot.
- Albert Pretorius is Anton Heidt, a thug who thinks his riches can buy everything. He is the father of Xander Heidt, one of the boys responsible for the death of Thobela’s son, Xola.
- Tarryn Wyngaard is Christine van Rooyen, a call girl who lives with her mother and young child. She is one of the women paid to attend parties at Anton’s house and she catches his eye.
