The reckoning
Justice can be difficult to come by for the adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. But one woman's quest to reckon with the past has revealed more victims and, together, they are facing off against the 80-year-old man they say molested them. In 2018, the Constitutional Court ruled these crimes can be prosecuted, no matter how long ago the abuse took place. Now, some remarkable adults are demanding a price for a childhood tainted by suffering. In collaboration with Primedia’s 567 Cape Talk, Carte Blanche meets three courageous women out for justice decades after suffering the abuse.
