HBO’S The Penguin will keep you shook week after week. The show paints Oz Cobb as a cutthroat, hard-headed mobster, thirsty for power. He will kill to get to the top, no questions asked. However, we have also come to see a rather humorous and relatable side to him. Here are some of his quirks.
He’s a Dolly Parton fan
Could Gotham’s ruthless villain actually be a Dolly Parton fan? Well, in one of the scenes from episode 1 when Victor gets into the car with Oz, Parton’s classic song ‘9 to 5’ starts playing. And no, it’s not randomly on the radio, it’s from a CD that Oz owns. In a cheap act of redemption, an embarrassed Oz quickly removes the CD from the player, but the smirk on Victor’s face is priceless.
PS, we guess Oz still has to figure out how to work Bluetooth.
He hates cilantro (coriander)
In episode 2, Victor serves Oz a taco dish and Oz screams in distaste that it’s loaded with cilantro. This is a clear indication that the thought of it in his food leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. Could there a backstory to this?
He drinks Slush Puppies
When Oz first meets Victor and hires him to do his dirty work, he bonds with him over a good old Slush Puppie. He tells Victor that it tastes better if all the flavours are blended. Much like a Slush Puppie, it’s quite refreshing to know that Gotham’s kingpin knows a few tricks when it comes to treats.
The plum Maserati
Oz not only knows his cars, but his colours too. When Sofia refers to his dashing Maserati as purple, he tells her, “Technically it’s plum.” Oz is a man of acquired taste and knows his stuff.
