Tientalle kerke, nie-regeringsorganisasies, besighede en individue het ingespring om die reuse voedselnood te verlig. Een so ‘n organisasie is die Emmanuel-kerk op Deelkraal naby Carltonville. Hulle bedryf al ‘n paar jaar ‘n sopkombuis wat een maal ‘n week kos uitgedeel het. Tydens die inperking gebeur dit nou meer gereeld. The lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has left millions of South Africans without an income and therefore without food. Hundreds of churches and non-governmental organisations as well as individuals have made an effort to address this looming humanitarian crisis. One such an organisation is the Emmanuel church in Deelkraal, close to Carltonville. For the past couple of years the church has been running a weekly soup kitchen which provides food to the needy. During the lockdown they have been forced to distribute food more frequently.
