As the 2024 festive season approaches, the focus in DStv falls on laying on a wealth of entertainment that is suited to the season and suitable for viewers of all ages.
MultiChoice Zimbabwe head of corporate affairs and public relations Charity Njanji said the build-up to the festive period was equally important and the month of November was already filled with a wide variety of content designed to prepare viewers for the traditional December month of merrymaking and enjoyment.
“December is of course the month that hosts the festive season, when Christmas and other holidays bring joy to the fore and when on-screen entertainment is at its best,” she said.
“But it is just as important to make sure the November build-up and the January follow-up are equally filled with treats for the eye and ear, so that is what planners have been looking at. November promises to be a bumper month for all viewers, existing and new.”
According to Njanji, year-end is a time for new viewers to link into the width of the DStv experience and in the spirit of the season many families traditionally treat themselves to DStv or – if already connected – to upgrades of bouquet for a more expanded enjoyment of the offering.
“Across all bouquets there is the usual wide range on offer, but there are many new shows in November to add sparkle to the viewing experience in the season of giving.”
For DStv Premium viewers a highlight from Sunday November 20 will be the 9pm slot when M-Net Movies launches the brand new Dune: Prophecy series that flows from the recent Dune and Dune Part Two hit films. Heralded as one of the most exciting sci-fi fantasy shows yet produced, this series is an HBO project produced by Legendary Television and developed by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker, set ahead of the Dune storyline and focusing on the origins of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood. It has six episodes and launches in the USA just three days before its DStv premiere.
Showmax will also have a wide offering, including all five seasons of the hit series Yellowstone, the South African Law, Love and Betrayal series, Mommy Club Sugar and Spice, Empini and the massively-successful The Penguin series from HBO, with Colin Farrell as DC Comics’ villain and Batman nemesis Oswald Copperpot, aka The Penguin.
“For all bouquets and DStv services there is something for everyone, from sport and films to children’s entertainment and reality shows, and from all the many other additional information, education and entertainment opportunities for viewers’ coming through November, right across December and well into January,” said Njanji.
