WWE weekly programmes preview, 7-13 August 2024

Fans of the WWE can gear up for another thrilling week of action on DStv, with live airings of the NXT, SmackDown and Raw shows running from Wednesday 7 to Tuesday 13 August 2024.

The action begins on the morning of Wednesday 7 August with WWE NXT Episode 785. The rise of Joe Hendry has been a major story in NXT, as he looks to build on his growing popularity amongst fans of the developmental brand.

“With each passing week, more and more of the planet begins to believe... to believe in Joe Hendry,” he explained. “Sure, in the last few months things have really caught fire, but I’ve been wrestling for 11 years just waiting for my time to shine.”

Saturday 10 August brings Episode 1303 of WWE SmackDown. Santos Escobar has suffered numerous setbacks in recent weeks, but has promised that he will bounce back to become a contender for a singles title.

“It’s only a matter of time,” said ‘The Emperor’. “I have had some bad luck, some interference from jealous rivals of late, but that doesn’t deter me. In fact, it makes me even more determined to build my legacy in the WWE... a legacy that includes gold around my waist.”

Tuesday 13 August will feature Episode 1629 of WWE Raw. Sonya Deville has been on a strong run of results since returning to WWE, and has taken particular aim at Lyra Valkyria.

“When she [Valkyria] got here from NXT, she thought it was easy, that everything would fall into place,” said Deville. “But then she ran into me. Now she’s had a rude awakening, but instead of thanking me for the free lesson I taught her, she is making this personal. Well, all right, let’s make it personal... because that’s when I fight my hardest.”
