It’s almost party time
Gear up for a globe-trotting explosion of sounds, street food and high fashion.
It’s only a week until the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival returns. After a two-year hiatus, the flavours and sounds of the globe will meet at Johannesburg’s Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on September 24th and 25th. The countdown has started, so get ready for a fusion of culinary and musical excellence.
Alongside Afropop megastar Burna Boy, is R&B hitmaker Babyface, Grammy-nominated icon Angie Stone, and Afrobeat star Nissi. Joining them are hip-hop trio Digable Planets, as well as English hip-hop and electronic dance group Stereo MCs. Mzansi’s musical heritage will be on proud display, with spoken-word poet Lebo Mashile, composing a piece for the festival. Plus, local singers Simphiwe Dana, Zenzi Makeba Lee and Msaki will perform a Miriam Makeba tribute.
In the meantime, foodies have lots to look forward to over this Heritage Day weekend, as local celebrity chef Siba Mtongana will be sizzling and sautéing up a storm in the Ambassador Lounge.
You can also take the festival home with you and get cooking inspiration from a unique recipe book titled DStv Delicious Festival: Our Story & Recipes (available to pre-order at www.thatfoodguyshop.co.za).
The collection of recipes includes Lorna Maseko’s stuffed leg of lamb, J’Something’s crispy Korean cauliflower, and the festival’s very own Delicious chocolate cookie ice-cream sandwiches.
Additionally, there will be incredible prizes up for grabs over the course of the weekend, such as a magnum of Nederburg wine, autographed by festival headliners – and the unmissable chance to enjoy sundowners on the main stage.
The party doesn’t end there – head over to the Channel O Drip Stage to dance to the irresistible sounds of Amapiano and hip-hop tunes by Mellow & Sleazy, Mr JazzIQ and Blxckie. It’s going to be epic!
