Women on top this August on DStv Compact
DStv Compact is the ultimate women’s month package this August, with Ayeye: Stripped, DJ Zinhle, Faith Nketsi & Miss SA 2022 and more
There’s no one right way to be a woman – especially a South African woman – and if you want to see Sisters loud and proud, in all our drama and power, you want DStv Compact.
Ayeye: Stripped Season 1 brings us one of those epic stories of sex, money and power among SA’s rich and shameless, while real life South African boss babes take us inside their lives as they defy their critics with style and success in DJ Zinhle The Unexpected Season 2 and Have Faith Season 4. And the Miss SA 2022 contestants show us what grace and brilliance look like as they continue to re-write the rules of beauty.
There’s also plenty of fun to be had with game show Celebrity Game Face Season 3, there’s a delicious treat in our triple ticket to Flavortown with Guy Fieri, and hotel shenanigans in Alex Polizzi: My Hotel Nightmare Season 1.
PS: because you get to see so much more on DStv with Compact, check out our other monthly highlights packages for news about August’s hit series like Kom Ons Braai: Celebs Season 1, Dance Naija Dance Season 1, Uyajola 9/9 Season 9, Say Yes To The Dress Season 20, Cesar Millan: Better Human, Better Dog Season 2, and Afrimaxx Season 1.
7 reasons to celebrate with DStv Compact
Ayeye: Stripped Season 1
It’s a whole new look, new me for Ayeye after 8 years away. After her rich babydaddy and blesser dies and his family leaves her destitute, pampered stay-at-home mom Zoleka (Rosemary Zimu) thinks she’s merely going to dip her toes in the fast money life when she signs on for a private adult website like OnlyFans. But the current is stronger than she ever could have imagined, and soon she’s dragged into a deep, dangerous current of play-for-pay among the rich and shameless of Sandton and Rosebank.
Watch Ayeye: Stripped Season 1 from Friday, 5 August at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161)
DJ Zinhle The Unexpected Season 2
ZeeNation, our time has come. Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane is stepping off the cover of Glamour magazine (the cover girl for the Beauty Issue, hello!) and GQ, and she’s here to bring us into her life again. DJ by night, entrepreneur by day, mom 24-7, DJ Zinhle is the booked, blessed and awaiting her Best Soapie Reality SAFTA, thank you, Siyabonga! Now see what it has taken behind the scenes to keep all the plates spinning, including opening her first Hair Majesty store. And will she be getting married? Is Murdah Bongz paying lobola? Wait and see.
Watch DJ Zinhle The Unexpected Season 2 from Saturday, 6 August at 19:30 on BET (DStv Channel 129)
Have Faith Season 4
Twerker, influencer and business babe Faith Nketsi is taking us along for the journey as she plans her “secret” April 2022 wedding with now-husband Nzuzo Njilo (who’s had plenty of drama of his own this year), explores her first months as a wife, works on her mental health and her relationship with her mom, Linky Mamogale Modise, and builds an entertainment empire while keeping things fresh at Fè Beauty. The spotlight is also on her bestie Kim Kholiwe and her assistant Andzelo Tivan, who bring their own perspectives and struggles to the mix.
Watch Have Faith Season 4 from Monday, 15 August at 21:30 on MTV (DStv Channel 130)
Celebrity Game Face Season 3
Hosts Kevin and Eniko Hart put their celebrity friends to the test as they kick back at home and take on a series of outrageous challenges and hilarious dance-offs. Amanda Seales pleads guilty both to having made a sex tape…and thinking that a friend’s baby was ugly, Niecy Nash admits to nicking pieces from her shows’ wardrobe departments, and look out for nonsense from Brie and Nikki Bella, Seth Green, Wayne Brady, Taran Killam, Jimmy Kimmel and Guillermo, Cedric The Entertainer and Tichina Arnold, Keke Palmer, Julie Bowen, and Lamorne Morris.
Watch Celebrity Game Face Season 3 from Sunday, 14 August at 19:05 on E! Entertainment (DStv Channel 124)
Guy Fieri: 3 times the sizzle
Tuck in your napkin for a 3-course Guy Fieri TV-dinner this August…
- Starters: Guy! Hawaiian Style Season 1: Join Guy and his family on a relaxed, 4-episode Hawaiian adventure filled with food, friends (like musician Mick Fleetwood) and diving, including a magical night dive with manta rays.
- Main: Tournament of Champions Season 3: 32 chefs (including returning champs like Brooke Williamson, Tiffani Faison, Amanda Freitag, Michael Voltaggio, and Jet Tila) face off one-on-one until only 2 are left. Justin Warner and Simon Majumdar explain the ingredients and methods of preparation, and the judges decide what makes it to the table, and what gets binned…without knowing who made what.
- Dessert: Dessert Games Season 1: Guy has given Duff Goldman the keys to his Flavortown Market, and Duff has created his own dessert-themed version of Grocery Games. Now in each episode, 4 pastry chefs must shop at speed, prepare and plate delicious desserts in the middle of the market.

Alex Polizzi: My Hotel Nightmare Season 1
Alex grew up as a member of the Forte hotel dynasty, and she made her career pointing out other people’s mistakes in the series Hotel Inspector. Now see what happens when she takes on her own hotel project, a 37-bedroom mediaeval inn in Sussex, The Star, which she bought in 2019…just before the pandemic struck. And while she’s battling that lot, she’ll also be cracking down on her mom Olga’s hotel staff, as she takes over managing 2 of Olga’s hotel properties in Cornwall. The Star is a real hotel, so for a bit of fun, pop over to Tripadvisor and check out the recent guest reviews.
Watch Alex Polizzi: My Hotel Nightmare Season 1 from Friday, 19 August at 20:00 on BBC Lifestyle (DStv Channel 174)
Miss SA 2022
Anele Mdoda will host this year’s Miss SA finale live from Pretoria’s Time Square SunBet Arena (and at this point, would it even be Miss SA without her?). It’s down to the final 10: Anarzade Omar (our K-drama stan), Ayanda Thabethe (no, the other Ayanda), Itumeleng Parage (wants to be Michelle Obama), Keaoleboga Nkashe (former tuba player), Lebogang Mahlangu (wants to be Batman), Luvé Meyer (falls asleep in movies), Luyanda Zuma (an epic hockey beast), Ndavi Nokeri (provincial Netball star), Pearl Ntshehi (looks taller in pictures), and Tamsyn Jack (has already thought of her first book title).
