Design reality series hosted by celebrity choreographer and avid home decorator Allison Holker Boss. Design Star: Next Gen puts 8 interior designers – including some who’ve made their names on social media – against each other in a 6-part competition. Each week, the designers take part in challenges such as remodelling office spaces and living rooms. In the end, the winner will receive $50,000 (R771,233) and their own HGTV show.

Episode Guide
Episode 1: Redesigning the Ugliest Rooms in America
In the pilot episode, the 8 designers are introduced to each other and soon after, they’re challenged to transform their hideous design spaces into elegant dining and living rooms. The spaces should showcase each designer’s personality and reveal what sets them apart from their competitors.
Episode 2: Creating a Transformative Office Space
The interior designers are tasked to turn a small office into a party room. They’re forced to think out of the box, and their renovations must include custom-built furniture. Who will make the cut?
Episode 3: Upcycling Unexpectedly Unconventional Spaces
With 6 contestants left, the interior designers pair off to remodel 3 unconventional vehicles that include a bus, aeroplane and a train caboose. The stakes are high as 2 designers will be eliminated at the end of the episode.
Episode 4: The Natural Elements and Living Rooms Challenge
The remaining designers run up against time as they create living rooms and an outdoor area that must feature a natural element. While some designers rise to the top, some fall under pressure. Floral designer Maurice Harris is the guest judge this episode.
Episode 5: A Total TV Kitch-Inspiration
The designers are pushed to their limits as they recreate a classic TV-show kitchen from sitcoms I Love Lucy, The Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond and Sister, Sister, with a modern twist. Who will have the last laugh?
Episode 6: 5 Unique Spaces, But Only 1 Winner
It’s the finale and the designers are at the end of the journey, but before the winner is crowned, the 3 finalists design dream bedrooms. After a tiring day, the judges send a contestant packing and the remaining 2 designers build an over-the-top room. The winner is announced at the end of this episode.
