February is packed with real-life drama, more horror love stories and survivors’ shocking tales, plus spicy new seasons of HONEY viewers’ favourite cooking shows.

HONEY (DStv 173) brings the heat in 2023, kicking off in February with a shocking new reality series, new seasons of top-ranking shows and audience favourites venturing into new territories. Premiering on Sunday 12 February, I Got Out Alive features survivors of close calls who lived to tell the tale of deadly scenarios and near disasters including abduction, accidents and abuse. In a series that is at once shocking and inspiring, we hear directly from the victims and their loved ones who helped them survive and get out alive.

Viewers get more Zambian content in the first season of Yes, I Have HIV, in which HIV activist Paul Banda helps people reveal their HIV-positive status to their loved ones for the first time, and in My Horror Love Story: Zambia in which brave Zambian people share stories of love gone wrong and fairytales that turned into nightmares.

 

“We’re excited that some of our popular shows are going to Zambia,” says Zinzi Velelo, HONEY’s Head of Content. “My Horror Love Story and Yes, I Have HIV are formats that our viewers are familiar with, but a different setting adds extra excitement.”

Back for another season from Saturday 11 February is Sangoma Khanyisa! in which renowned traditional healer Mkhulu Rametsi gives guidance and light to ordinary people with extraordinary problems, who hope that connecting with their ancestors will help them find the answers to their questions.

There’s a rules switch-up in the Siyabonga Ngwekazi fronted game show This Money Will Change My Life. Five people pitch for a R25,000 windfall that will change their lives, but in season 2 the studio audience is out of the picture and it’s the jury who decides who walks away with the cash.

HOT IN KITCHEN

Moshe Ndiki and Lillian Dube are back in your kitchen, intent on finding the perfect Sunday meal. The celebrity foodies host a new season of 7 Colours in which teams from different homes try to outdo each other in a longstanding South African food tradition.

Also returning for a new season is Mama Vs. Makoti, pitting mom versus wife in a competition to cook their way into the heart of the man who loves them the most. It may seem like the best of both worlds, but can the man of the moment stand the heat in the kitchen when it comes to choosing the winning dish, or will presenter Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi have to pour oil on troubled waters?

After being introduced to Kenyan and Zambian cuisine in My Kenyan Plate and My Zambian Plate, HONEY viewers can now look forward to a taste of Zimbabwe and Botswana. This upbeat cooking show explores new food cultures and makes them simple and accessible in My Botswana Plate (from Saturday 11 February) and My Zim Plate (Sunday 12 February).
