Rated by viewers as one of Mzansi's best reality shows, The Bala Family topped trends week after week. Now, the much-anticipated return of The Bala Family to Mzansi Magic this August promises even more family drama.
Siblings Pinky, Zwai, Loyiso and Phelo, along with their mother, Mama V, are back to share their lives with viewers. Following the passing of Tata Jafta, the family matriarch, Mama Vuyiswa, is determined to foster unity between the Bala and Jafta families in honour of his memory. This includes providing for his children and grandchildren, a matter which Zwai and Pinky are opposed to.
The siblings are united in acquiring a family home, aiming to purchase a home for Mama V as their inaugural family residence. However, the financial aspect of this plan remains a pressing question.
This season also features the potential revival of The Bala Brothers, who haven't collaborated in years. Some family members view the group's reunion as a way to help finance the new family home, while others have different ideas.
"The first season of The Bala Family was a huge success and positively welcomed by our audience. We are excited for the second season and, in the same breath, saddened by the loss of Bab’ Jafta, who has since passed on," says Shirley Adonisi, Director for Local Entertainment Channels. "We continue to grieve with the family, honour Bab’ Jafta for his contribution to the show and dedicate this season to his memory."
There is much more to see this season of The Bala Family. Witness how they navigate their family and individual challenges. The new season premieres on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161, from Sunday, August 4, at 19:00.
