First up, on Saturday 2 March, Nottingham Forest will welcome Liverpool to the City Ground. The hosts are fighting against the prospect of relegation, while the Reds are chasing title glory and cannot afford any mercy on their trip to Nottingham.
“I think everyone would love to be in this situation that you are on the top and fighting for the pinnacle, which is winning the Premier League in this case," said Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk. "We are in a situation that I think last year around this time, you would never, well maybe not never as you never know, but you wouldn't have believed where we are today. Let's just enjoy the moment and we must perform as players, but together everyone has to play their part.”
On Saturday 9 March, Crystal Palace and Luton Town will have a relegation ‘six-pointer’ at Selhurst Park. The Eagles and the Hatters are both desperate to retain their place in the English topflight and a win in this clash could be key to their respective survival hopes.
Saturday 16 March features a clash from the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, Old Trafford, as Manchester United host Sheffield United. The Red Devils are hoping to salvage what has been a disappointing and inconsistent campaign, while the Blades are hoping to restore some pride in a season which looks very likely to see them pushed back into the second tier EFL Championship.
“We are not where we want to be in the league,” said Man United defender Harry Maguire. “It's been a tough season [...] and we need to step up. We have got ourselves in a position where we can challenge to go and get in the top four. It is important we stick together and take this club back to where it should be.”
The final offering on SuperSport Blitz for the month arrives on Saturday 30 March when Burnley head to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. The Clarets are another club fighting against the ‘dreaded drop’, while the Blues just want to find a sense of identity and consistency in what has been a roller-coaster season.
